d’Arenberg The Custodian Grenache 75cl

  • Country: Australia
  • Region: McLaren Vale
  • Grape Varietals: Grenache

While other winemaking techniques and varieties came and went, d’Arenberg ignored the vagaries of fashion, and now the oldest Grenache vines at d’Arenberg are approaching their 120th season, and are thick trunked, dry grown and deep rooted, struggling to produce modest quantities of small, highly flavoured grapes. As the champion of the variety in McLaren Vale, they proudly see themselves as the ‘custodian’ of Grenache. It’s ripe; it’s scented, it’s gorgeous. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy with concentrated red berry, plum, strawberries and a spicy softness that lingers on past the finish.
